Aleksej Besciokov, Garantex Exchange Admin, Arrested in India

Aleksej Besciokov, alleged Russian operator of crypto exchange Garantex, has been arrested by Indian authorities in Kerala while vacationing with his family. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) stopped him from escaping the country. Besciokov, a Lithuanian national and Russian resident aged 46, was detained under India’s extradition laws. He operated Garantex between 2019 and 2025 using aliases and collaborating with co-founder Aleksandr Mira Serda. Last week, law enforcement from multiple countries seized Garantex servers and froze around $28 million worth of crypto assets.
